At Lightning Fast Performance Horses we strive to create competitive performance horses with a focus on temperament and soundness. Our goal is for anyone to be able to compete on a horse from our program. The foundation of our program was started by Peggy Huerkamp, one of the best trainer/barrel racers on the Western Slope. Though Mrs. Huerkamp has retired from barrel racing her legacy lives on with her daughter Rachel Huerkamp. Rachel is our fearless leader in this program with accomplishments like the Colorado Professional Rodeo Associations (CPRA) 2021 Rookie of the year, multiple CPRA finals qualifier, multiple 1D average wins, arena record breaker, Denver National Stock Show qualifier, has placed in multiple slot races and the list continues. Mercedes Bradfield, the other half to the Lightning Fast team, is new to the barrel racing game but under Rachel's guidance has already had several 1D accomplishments including 1D earnings, places 1D in slot races, won several open rodeos and a Colorado Professional Rodeo Association money earner.
